The lining of the gut is very special. It has to stop 'invaders' from entering the body via the walls of the intestine but still allow the 'good' nutrients to enter. There is a link between the gut and the brain and when the gut is foggy so the brain will be too.
When there is a 'leaky gut / intestinal permeability' the space between the cells of the lining of the gut open up due to inflammation and the system then reacts to this by putting the immune system on high alert. A leaky gut can be triggered by an invasion of pathogens such as candida, parasites and bacteria. It can also be caused by certain foods and dietary choices.
When the gut is challenged and becomes 'leaky' many of the above symptoms are shown in the system to make you aware that there is a 'health challenge'. If left unsupported the symptoms can increase to eczema, chronic fatigue, migraines, anxiety, malabsorption of minerals and vitamins.
