Dehydration and Disease

Our blood is made up of 90% water.

We need water to convert food into energy, lubricate joints, cushion bones, regulate body temperature and a whole lot of lubrication for tears, saliva, sinuses and the digestive tract.

It can be tricky to know how much water to drink, a general guide is to drink half your body weight in ounces of water.

We also need electrolytes alongside the water (electrolytes make sure that water is being absorbed and properly hydrating your cells). You can consume these from fruits and vegetables, or squeeze the juice of half a lemon into your water with a pinch of Himalayan salt - try to stay away from the sports drinks that contain high amounts of sugar, artificial flavours, and colours!
